Born and raised in Butwal, Surakhsya Panta used to be an average girl with an average lifestyle. As a child, she had always been a kid with a keen interest in extracurricular activities. She mentions herself as an active audience for movies since childhood. Art and expression were always there with her in many forms. As of 2022, her age is 28 years old. Surakshya hasn’t disclosed much information about her family. Surakhsya Panta graduated her school level in Butwal. Later for further studies, in 2008, she came to Kathmandu. Here, she completed her engineering degree from Kathmandu Engineering College in 2014. Her journey as an actor began as soon as she graduated as a civil engineer.
Surakshya Panta Movie Career
Initially, out of curiosity, Surakshya had participated in a VJ hunt competition in 2013, where she even got selected to be a part of a television show. She secretly wished to be on television. But she had to drop the idea to continue with her studies. She had planned her future. She would join an engineering firm after her studies. And her wish to be on television as a media personality could be pursued later. Surakshya Panta had also hosted popular live television shows such as “Play it on” and “Call Kantipur” for a brief time. But little did she know, other plans were also already set for her in the near future.
That one audition completely opened her doors for Nepali Film Industry. As her studies had just finished, one fine day, she surprisingly received a call from one of the most popular directors at that time, Mr. Alok Nemabang (late). As per his saying, the audition tape of the VJ hunt competition grabbed his attention, and thought maybe she could pursue an acting career. Curious Surakshya absolutely grabbed the opportunity and started her journey as an actor. Alongside, acting she has also hosted several popular events in past and also has modeled for several fashion brands.
Thus, Actress Surakshya Pant’s debut movie became Alok Nembang‘s ‘Ajhai Pani’, in a supporting role. The movie also featured another leading actress, Pooja Sharma. Eventually, to mold in the industry, Surakhya, accepted the art, practiced it, enjoyed it, learned it, and gave honesty and consistency to her profession. As a result, she has built herself into the vision of her audience.
Her remarkable works include “Dhanapati” which gave her fame. And with her role in the movie “AAMA”, she gave audiences a well-defined and polished performance. She even agreed to shave her head for her role in the movie. With a good storyline, and a character of diligent femininity that stands in relief against the stereotypes, Surakshya Panta lived through her role.

Surakshya Panta: The first Nepali Actress at Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet
Apart from national projects, Surakshya had an opportunity to be a part of the Italian-language drama film, The Eight Mountains (Italian: Le otto Montagne). The movie was directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch. The movie carries a gorgeous storyline about Friendship. A part of the movie was also shot in Manag of Nepal. And the movie was a nominee for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
The actress thus met a moment in her life. She walked onto the Red Carpet and participated in the ceremony including the premiere, press meet, and photoshoot. Surakhsya Panta became the first Nepali Actress to walk the Red Carpet at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Alongside, she also got included in the list of best dressers at the event.
