    It is a national park which is quite exquisitely adorned with Sagarmatha National Park. It has mountains, glaciers, and valleys along with the world’s highest peak of Mount Everest. You will also find Sherpas with their rich culture which makes the national park even more interesting.

    Since there are no roads to this place and you have to literally walk, so plenty of food should be accompanied with plenty of rest.

    It is the first Himalayan National Park with rich flora and fauna. The national park is the most appropriate place for hiking too. It is the catchment area for Trisuli river along Sun Koshi river. Mostly the populations are Tamang who are from the ancient Nepalese race.

    The national park is highly uncrowded which makes it the best national park for the occasion. The nearby lodges are operational during winters only. People may have high altitude sickness so you should carry your medicines accordingly.

  • 15Kathesimbhu Stupa

    Kathesimbhu Stupa
    The 17thcentury rendition of the renowned Swayambhunath temple, Kathesimbhu Stupa is one of the most popular Tibetan pilgrimage sites in Kathmandu. Located between Thamel and Durbar Square, the stupa was built using the left over materials from Swayambhunath temple complex.

    It is set in a hidden courtyard, surrounded by smaller stupas, engravings and statutes. Although well maintained and intact, this UNESCO World Heritage Site witnessed minor damages in the 2015 earthquake.

    : In the northwestern corner of the courtyard there’s a beautiful pagoda dedicated to Hariti, the goddess of smallpox whereas the northeast corner is adorned with the Drubgon Jangchup Choeling Monastery.

    Devi’s fall is a waterfall in the Pokhara region of Nepal, where when the water drops down, it forms a sort of underground tunnel of about 30m deep and 150m long. It is named after the woman who lost her life because of drowning in the pit here.

    The water in falls comes from the Phewa Lake reservoir. This place is a famous attraction for visitors from all around the world who come here to witness the beauty and pray at the nearby Gupteshwor Mahadev cave.

    Considered to be the largest cave in the country, it is also a popular trekking route from Bandipur and back to Bandipur. It is 437m deep and is about 50m high with the shape of a cathedral lined with stalagmites and stalactites, making it a beautiful creation of nature.

    You can easily complete the trek to and from Bandipur in about 90 minutes one way or can take a hike from Bimalnagar and reach the cave in about 45 minutes.

    Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve
    The only hunting reserve in Nepal is the Dhorpatan hunting reserve. It is surrounded by ‘Dhor’ or marshlands and this reserve was constructed with the aim of protecting some of the important species of Nepal. If you climb up, you will notices that the major portion of the area is snow-capped.

    If you have a religious bent of mind you can visit the place during the month of August where a religious fair is held and is attended by all the locals of Nepal.

    A part of the Durbar Square of Kathmandu, it is a complex of buildings which consists of the royal palaces of Malla kings and the Shah Dynasty. Spread over a whopping 5 acres, the place gets its name from the standing statue of the Hindu Lord Hanuman on the entrance and lists among best tourist places in Kathmandu, “Dhoka” in Nepali meaning door or gate.

    The statue itself dates back to 1672. The door is the entrance to the complex of Palace inside and is also the entryway to the Nasal Chok, Mul Chok, Mohan Chok and the Tribhuvan Museum, which exhibits the royal belongings of King Tribhuvan.

    Shuklaphanta is a wildlife hunting reserve in Kanchanpur district and is the most popular testimony of nature conservation in South Asia. It is the first national park of Nepal and is also included in the world heritage sites as well. The forest has always remained undisturbed which makes it the choicest wildlife reserve.

    The reserve caters to some 24 species of mammals along with 350 species of birds and 14 species of fish. You will also find Nilgai and Jackal in this wildlife reserve.

    When China invaded Tibet, Nepal experienced about 60,000 refugees pouring in across the border to settle in Nepal. Refugee camps were set in many places in the country to house the refugees, out of which 4 were in Pokhara, the largest of which was at Tashiling.

    Bardia National Park
    Established in the year of 1988 as the Royal Bardia National Park, it covers an area of 968 sq km and is the most undisturbed national park in the country. Bisected by the Babai River and protected by the Siwalik Hills on one end, the park is a part of the combined Tiger Conservation Unit (TCU) that also includes the Banke National Park.

    Apart from the Royal Cats, the place is also home to alligators and one-horned rhinoceros which are also equally majestic sights to capture at least once.

    The conservation area is operational under the king Mahendra trust which is one of the non-profit organization of Nepal. And it also helps to both preserve and maintain the natural and cultural resources of Nepal.
